Running rigging

That high-tech, low-stretch line is expensive. Make sure you take your sheets off (along with your sail, of course), but also take down your halyards if you can. Send up messenger lines to make replacing your rigging easier.

Jackstands and chains.

Make sure you read the BoatUS article section on proper placement and installation of jackstands. Satisfied that your boat is secure? How about the boat next to you? Your marina may hate you if you tell them to secure all boats down your row to prevend the 'domino' effect, but your boat will love you. If you are unsure of your marina, visit before you haul!
